Surgery

Madi had her tonsils & adenoids out on Thursday. She also had tubes put in her ears and and Echocardiogram & EKG on her chest to check and see if the 2 small holes she had at birth have closed all the way.

I couldn't resist putting this shot in... who can resist Baby in the Tub pictures? This was the night before, just to make sure she was nice & clean. And of course Ty had to join in the fun.

Here's Madi, at 6:30am at the hospital. I was dumb enough to forget that she wasn't supposed to have anything in her stomach- not even liquids- for 3 hours before surgery. I gave her a bottle of apple juice when we got to the hospital, so we had to sit in this room for the next 3 hours, waiting. Not too fun. But don't you just love her piggie tails sticking straight up?

The thing that irritated her the most (besides the fact that she got hungry just before 8am and I still couldn't even give her water) was this I.D. tag they put on her ankle. I'm really glad they didn't put it on her wrist! She kept trying to get that thing off the whole time we were there.
Her surgery went really well. We found out that she has a sub-cleft pallet in her mouth, so the Dr. only took 60% of her adenoids out. And there was some really, really thick liquid behind her right ear that had to be suctioned out & caused some bleeding. It is now Day 2 after surgery, and Madi is doing pretty well- just being VERY clingy to me. As long as we keep up on the Loritab, she does ok. Fortunately, night times haven't been too bad, either.
Here's to better hearing, less ear infections, beginning to speak, and hopefully sleeping better!!

I'm glad she's been recovering pretty well the past few days! I've been thinking about you and I'm glad for the update. I hope the surgery has many positive effects for Miss Madi!
