Here's a picture of our house before winter...

Here's a picture of our house on Dec. 21, after 89 inches of snow & rain...

...and here's a picture of our house after the extra 4 feet of snow that came on Dec. 28th. The storm knocked a tree down in the canyon, which took out one of the main power lines to the entire canyon. We were without power for about 27 hours. And, since the power line was right below Sundance, the power company had to close the road coming up the canyon during that whole day so they could fix the lines. We would have been fine... if we had stocked up on wood INSIDE the house, not just in a big pile outside- under the snow. Our dry wood ran out, and we started getting cold. Fortunately they decided to open the road up for just 15 minutes, only to let people down off the mountain. I threw the kids & some bags into the car, and we high-tailed it down to Orem for the night!

See that path through the snow on the left side of the picture? That's where I trudged through the snow, which is higher than my head, to try to get some more wood, which was frozen under all the snow.
Good thing we moved our cars under the covered parking area before the storms hit!
