My 2nd Race

Today I ran a 10K. It was the Freedom Run in Provo for the 4th of July. The course went from Kiwanis Park over to University Avenue, then followed the parade route down that road to Center Street, then eventually back up to Kiwanis. It was fun to run past all the people waiting for the Parade- maybe next year we can take the kids to the parade after the race.

I hadn't been training as much for this one and only decided to do it a couple of days ago, because I was letting my feet heal from the half-marathon and the Laryngitis set me back a bit as well... but I still had a respectable time. I came in at 1:08:38. My pace was 11:04 miles / hour. A little slower than I was hoping for- I wanted to come in at closer to 10, but there was a lot of uphill on this one as well that got me. I felt pretty good during this run- not a lot of pain in my feet like last time. I still felt sick to my stomach after I finished, probably because I ate a bunch of grapes at the finish line when I should have just stuck with water... but I feel good about my effort and hope to keep running. Especially while it is nice enough to run outside!
