This week is the last full week of summer camp (sniff, sniff!!). So much has happened this summer, I feel like it has gone by so much faster than usual. Probably because I was so busy with re-financing our house (which took almost the whole summer), buying a new car, Susan's wedding in Idaho, Jim's numerous trips to Southern Utah, seeing friends & family, Scott & Karissa moving out, projects at the house, and getting Aspen & Madi ready to start school again- not to mention fitting in my sewing projects, which kept me sane. I really loved the days when Aspen was happily entertained with her age group, and Madi and Tysen were both either taking naps or watching Baby Einstein so that I could submerge myself in my projects and forget about all the things I was "supposed" to be doing (housework, etc).
It is very therapeutic for me to sit and work in my sewing area, with stacks of fabric and half-finished projects all around me, waiting for me to turn them into something beautiful. Or to attempt to, anyways. Sometimes I just sit and look at my fabric, running my fingers over it. Having someone else cook and clean up meals for me was definitely a huge bonus! What can I say, other than that I really love my life and my family and feel so happy to be here at Aspen Grove!
Now, I am looking forward to watching the canyon burst into the colors of fall, our trip to California to go to Disneyland and the beach, setting up my quilting frames down at the house to work on projects while the girls are in school, being their bus driver (ok, not especially looking forward to that part), the Family Get-together up here in October- and all the wonderful seasons and holidays & things that fall & winter will bring. What can I say, I guess I am feeling a little nostalgic tonight. I always get this way in the fall when school is about to start. I used to get so excited, going and buying some new clothes, and getting brand-new books and school supplies. I'm happy that I don't have to go back to school, though! I love just being a Mom and being blessed to stay home with my wonderful kiddos!

It's so nice to have those moments of absolute contentment with one's life. I'm glad you've had such a great summer and I wish you the best with your new school schedule!
By the way, you're going to Disneyland?! Can I come along in your suitcase?!
I can totally relate to this post! My projects keep me sane too! I'm also a big "Fall" person. There is so much excitement in the air. I love how everything slows down, and yet speeds up when school starts. It's so nice to be a stay-at-home mom, where we can actually do some projects when we have a minute (or make a minute by not doing something else!)
You are amazing! I wish we were coming up to visit you soon!
Love this post. I also love your quilt tops, especially the double weddimg ring one. You are so talented! When you come to Disneyland let me know. We live about 30 minutes away. I'd love to see you!
