These past 2 weeks, I have been in sort of a "sewing frenzy." It started with the Bag Project (remember a few posts back... I dubbed myself the Bag Lady). I had 6 cute little make-up/pencil kit bags made, and 1.5 big bags made as Thank You gifts for my girls' teachers. Then I got an email from Madi's teacher with a list of all the Therapists Madi works with in a week. My count went up from 6 small bags to 17... and I had less than a week to finish them. Good thing I already had the fabric, and they were really easy to make! I even made a couple of "guy bags."
Cute bags for all Madi's teachers, aides, and therapists.
These 2 bags were for Madi's and Aspen's teachers. Both girls have had the same teacher for the past 2 years, so I wanted to do something special to say Thanks. They have both been amazing teachers for my girls!
And now the Quilt Projects. As I was in the middle of the Bag Project, my youngest sister called me up and asked if I would like to make a quilt for a little boy who is only 2, who fell into a fire pit and received 3rd degree burns on his legs. His father wanted a quilt made that all the nurses & doctors at the hospital could sign for him. He loves superheroes, so I made this quilt with all his favorite heroes in the center of the squares. It turned out better than I had envisioned. Even if I had to put it all together in less than 3 days...
And... it so happens that the little guy has an older brother who is 7, who wanted a quilt, too. I made this quilt for him with a baseball print in the middle of the squares. I made it using a crazy quilting method, where you don't measure the borders on the squares equally and just piece them on there crookedly. It was a fun method that I have used once before, and had a great time doing it. Hopefully these two quilts will brings some smiles and soft cuddly comfort to those little boys.
I just had to throw this picture in the mix. Madi wears her glasses all the time now, and it has made a huge difference for her. She makes eye contact a lot more, and is able to stay focused for longer periods of time in class.
Tysen wears his "glasses" all the time, too! He is such a happy, goofy little guy. He gets this little grin on his face all the time, that completely disarms me. (It's not the one in the picture... that one is his "happy face.")
Aspen is becoming quite the little helper with her brother and sister. She really is a big help to me! This is her, at her Dance Festival today. They did the Mexican Hat Dance & she did a great job. She is really going to miss being in school- but Age Groups are starting up at Aspen Grove, and she loves going to group!

Wow Kim! Those bags and quilts look amazing! I love the bag and quilt that you made me! You truly are talented. We still need to get together to sew.
