It's always very exciting for us when Madi learns to do something new- especially when we have been working with her for a long time on it. Last weekend, over Labor Day, we went camping with my family down at Pine Valley Mountain. We were camping in a trailer. Madi was on the floor next to our bed, and the second morning I heard a sucking noise, and thought that Aspen had gotten up and found Madi's bottle and was giving it to her. Then I heard Jim saying, "Kim! Get up, quick! And look at Madi!" In alarm, I sat up quickly, thinking something was wrong- and there she was, holding her bottle and trying to drink from it, all by herself! To her dismay, it was empty- so she kept taking it out of her mouth, looking at it, then putting it back in again. Jim and I were both shocked, and overjoyed. We have been working with her on this for over a year! So now she will hold it most of the time, but she has to be reclining, or laying on her back for it to work. She still drops it alot and can't always figure out how to pick it back up again, especially if it is full. So here's a picture to celebrate this milestone:
As if that wasn't great enough, a few days after we got back, I went in to get Madi up from her nap and this is what I saw:There she was, sitting up all by herself. This is the first (that I know about) that she has gotten herself into sitting position on her own. We've been working on this for a long time, too.

We love our little Madi, and are so proud of her!
